Challenging yourself regularly by trying new things and taking chances is a good way to improve your show and grow your audience. It’s all a learning process and in the end: nothing ventured, nothing gained. By the same token, know that there will be bumps in the road. Overcoming the challenges that come with building a podcast will give you the experience and grit you’ll need to keep the show going in the long run.

Finding time to create a regular podcast can be difficult. Make your podcast planning and production part of your daily schedule. Breaking tasks into regular chunks over a period of time is easier than trying to get everything done at once. Set challenges for yourself. Maybe invite a guest on who has a different opinion than you. Or ask your audience to pick your next topic. It’s important to push yourself and shake things up once in a while. By keeping your show fresh you grow as a podcaster and as an individual. Do I have imposter syndrome? This is a common feeling for people at the outset, doubting their skills, talents or accomplishments and fearing being exposed as a “fraud”. If you feel this way, identify it for what it is and push through it. Being defeated by setbacks. Try to see mistakes and setbacks as learning opportunities and know that everyone makes mistakes when building a show. If something doesn’t work, simply try doing it a different way next time.

  • Plan how to keep up the energy to continue even when it gets hard. [Mohamed el Abed]
